Rob: As far as I know, Political officers of the NKVD Internal troops wore petlitsi with black piping, and the sleeve stars were edged in gold wire - Is this true?

Александр Шатулин: According to order No. 275 (july 15, 1937): 1) Collar tabs for the political staff are the same as for the commanding staff but with crimson piping instead of the gold one. 2) Sleeve stars are made of the red wool with red silk edging and gold sickle and hammer emblem.
